I have a Cockatiel and am interested in getting another bird. I was wondering what would be the next step up from a Cockatiel, as I am looking for a social, playful, and relatively quiet bird. Any help is much appreciated.

  1. Maybe a parrotlet or a Senegal parrot.. they are small and managable and aren’t as noisey as the larger birds.

    Also, quaker parrots seem popular (unless you live in california where they are banned as pets);

    I would make sure that before getting another bird you are giving your cockatiel as much as you can by training, flight, socializing, etc.

    If your cockatiel doesn’t know how to talk yet you should take the time to teach it;

    And if it isn’t flight trained, that is an amazing training experience too;

  2. i had a love bird years back… very low maintenance and not to terribly active. however, for an advance owner- i would definitely suggest an african grey parrot- had one of those too- VERY cool birds.

  3. Large Parrots are far from quiet.Why not get your cockatiel a mate.They love there own company as well as humans.
