If I’m not interested in spending a fortune to find a good cat treat, what can I use in my cabinet as a substitute?

  1. - a spoonful of plain yogurt with live active cultures is a treat AND good for kitty’s stomach
    - a teeny piece of cheddar cheese
    - a piece of steamed broccoli or a green bean
    - a spoonful of meat-only baby food if you have a baby in the house
    - leftover steamed rice
    - cooked chicken
    - scrambled egg
    - an ice cube to bat around the floor or in a large tray is a great idea

  3. Sometimes we give our kitten small bits of lunch meat, but really, items made for cats are better for them. We give our kitty "Pounce." It’s only about a $1 and it lasts a long time. Oh yeah, one more tip-this sounds weird, but our kitten LOVES ice cubes! He’ll bounce them around the kitchen for a long time! You might try that.

  6. Hi
Best treats you can which is an give your cat which is an obligate carnivore is protein treat so meat like chicken. Coldcuts like ham and turkey are fine too on occasion as is tuna. Cats should not have treats that are loaded with carbohydrates.
